Historic victory for the Lib Dems in Salford as they take majority of The Quays ward

Long time reisdent of the Quays and community campaigner Jonathan Moore looked to build on Cllr Paul Heilbron's success in January's By-election in the ward. The Liberal Democrats in the Quays have been campaigning on local issues that matter to residents namely, the successful #LateNightTrams, SaveOurWalkways and the very popular anti-plastic pollution #CleanUpTheQuays campaign, which under the new control of Paul Heilbron has kicked into a whole new gear this year.

Whilst the Liberal Democrats ran a positive campaign focused on the issues, many voters noted how Labour only bothered showing up a few weeks before polling day and questioned where they had been since January? Paul, Jonathan and the Lib Dems keep in touch all year round, whereas the first thing voters heard from Labour was a demand for their vote a matter of weeks before polling day.

Newly elected Liberal Democrat Councillor Jonathan Moore said:

““People voted for us over Labour because we’ve delivered a phenomenal amount of things, particularly in the last few months, and that really resonated with voters.

“Secondly, myself and Cllr Heilbron both live in the ward and work hard all year round people and people liked both of those entities. Councillor Heilbron has hit the  ground running, we work together really well, and this is just the start.”

“I’ve been the final Lib Dem victor in the entire UK elections, I think I’m number 522, and it’s the end of a huge cycle where we’ve saved the best till last.”
